miamibandstuff.com (http://miamibandstuff.com) Hugo Martinez' excellent photography of local bands.
musicdepotusa.com (http://musicdepotusa.com) The music store in Homestead/Florida City where Scott teaches. Music Depot has a real nice selection of instruments, supplies and sound gear with competitive pricing and family owned, personal service and advise. They also have great programs for kids (of all ages) to join a band (under supervision), rehearse and have live performances, a GREAT learning experience.
Mr. Nice Guy (http://mngband.com) A great band and they're here locally. When I (Scott) go out to see a band, this is the band I go see. They are by far the best band of this type I've seen in the Miami area. They are the high standard by which all other bands are judged and don't quite stack up. And they really fit their band name, they are all really nice people. Great musicians one and all. John Quinn is a great keyboard player and he plays 3 keyboards at once. With only two hands! Tom Hall is a guitarist a cut above the rest. He can rock hard, plays R&B and funk like he's from Motown and while a soloist with chops galore, he always plays tastefully. I guess it's no accident that he also was chosen to play with the members of Savoy Brown and Foghat! Jimmy Conner sings his ass off, he is the embodiment of 'blue eyed soul' yet kicks that butt on rock songs as well. He sings his ass off and then kicks that butt, I think there's a medical term for that. Now we come to Dave Webster on drums and Magoo on bass, what an amazing rhythm section! Tight, solid and grooving like there's no tomorrow. Now if all that wasn't enough, they have a CD of all original songs that is groovingly great with heart and humor. If you haven't heard Mr. Nice Guy, you must. Obviously I think very highly of these guys.
